Getting slightly frustrated with this book as I find Alina quite weak and she never seems to stand up for herself and just bows to everyone else。 Plus her discision making is weird

Es un segundo libro que no decepciona。 Muchas veces en las trilogías o las sagas al final sólo te gusta realmente el primer libro y lees el resto por saber cómo acaba。 Este libro es una verdadera continuación de su antecesor， los personajes van cambiando， evolucionando según sus vidas se complican permitiendo que te metas en su historia。 No son perfectos ni antihéroes， son personajes sinceros y a mí eso me encanta。

Didn’t love the pacing。 Most of the book felt like we were waiting for something to happen， and then all of the action was packed into too short of a chapter。 So much so， that it felt like we missed something。 Still enthralled by the story， but needing a bit more drive。

So gerne ich die Bücher auch lese， muss ich jetzt mal Kritik aussprechen: Das Magiesystem ist super undurchsichtig und random。 Die ersten 100 Seiten waren mit Ereignissen vollgestopft， die 300 Seiten danach sterbenslangweilig und kaum etwas ist passiert。 Auch die Entwicklung der Charaktere ging eher in die Abwärtsrichtung， besonders bei Mal。Einziger Lichtblick ist Nikolai。Unterhaltsam ist die Reihe trotzdem und natürlich lese ich weiter。 :D

Took me longer to get thorugh this one but the end really made it worth the while。 A lot of character development and slower uncovering of mysteries in this one - but still the same amount of newness and tension。 Definitely gained a new favourite character in this one。

Definitely an upgrade over the first book of the series。 Alina Starkov as the Sun Summoner was more engaged throughout the book although my favorite character in the book has to be Nikolai。 The character had fun， humor， fight， intelligence and was a rather well rounded and likeable character。 Two new characters Tolya and Tamar bring about a lot of freshness and energy to the existing characters and the biggest character of them all is definitely Sturmhond who is the captain of the ship in which Definitely an upgrade over the first book of the series。 Alina Starkov as the Sun Summoner was more engaged throughout the book although my favorite character in the book has to be Nikolai。 The character had fun， humor， fight， intelligence and was a rather well rounded and likeable character。 Two new characters Tolya and Tamar bring about a lot of freshness and energy to the existing characters and the biggest character of them all is definitely Sturmhond who is the captain of the ship in which the Darkling has captured and takes in Alina Starkov in the beginning of the book。 As the book progressed， the relationship between Alina and Mal gets a little boring or cringy and felt rather wasteful （although there is a reason）， definitely felt like it slowed down the plot but it maybe more engaging for people who are not super into fights and thrillers throughout the book。 I'm purposely avoiding any reference to the Darkling's role in this book， for anyone who has seen the series that recently came on Netflix， you might well know what he is capable of doing， especially in this book。 The alliance between Nikolai and Alina to fight the Darkling to protect Ravka felt like a more enjoyable story with the occasional friendly banters between the two bringing some laughter in the book。 Other characters such as Zoya， David make their presence in the book every now and then with David having a more prominent role than Zoya。 I felt the ending of the book to be squeezed a lot than it should've been which is one of the main reasons I couldn't give this book a 5/5。 I felt the book could've been expanded towards the end or cut down in other places to give more space to the ending。 。。。more

It’s a middle book， but still good。 I prefer my adventure heroes to have a higher ratio of adventure to romance than Alina does。 But that’s just a personal preference。 I still really enjoyed the book。

per questo ho deciso di recuperare subito gli altri due volumi e， una volta arrivati， di iniziare a leggere all'istante il sequel di Shadow and Bone， Siege and Storm appunto。 In giro， avevo letto che la trilogia - dal secondo volume in poi - era progressivamente peggiorata e non nego che， per questo， anche io temevo che non mi sarebbe piaciuto。 Fortunatamente però non è stato così ed infatti Siege and Storm mi è piaciuto tanto quanto Shadow and Bone。Dal punto di vista dell'impostazione， Shadow and Bone e Siege and Storm sono molto simili: in pratica Alina （insieme ad altri personaggi） all'inizio di entrambi i libri si trova in un punto A， per un motivo o per un altro però deve arrivare ad un punto B e quindi una parte della storia è appunto dedicata al viaggio che compie per spostarsi da un luogo all'altro; una volta arrivata al punto B poi， la vicenda si svolge solo ed esclusivamente lì。 Devo ammettere che forse mi aspettavo che la trama di questo secondo volume sarebbe stata impostata in maniera diversa， ma la cosa non mi ha infastidita e non credo che il romanzo ne abbia risentito più di tanto。 Comunque - prendendo ovviamente in considerazione solo i due libri che ho letto finora - credo che Leigh Bardugo sia bravissima quando si tratti di scrivere l'inizio e la fine di un libro ed infatti sono le parti che ho preferito di più sia in Shadow and Bone che in Siege and Storm， in quanto sono sempre piene di rilevazioni scioccanti ed azione; si perde invece nella parte centrale， soprattutto nel caso di Siege and Storm: non nego infatti che la storia ha rischiato varie volte di diventare un po' troppo monotona， visto che Alina non faceva altro che compiere le stesse azioni e ritornare costantemente sulle stesse cose， ma si è sempre ripresa grazie ad un'informazione o ad una scena interessante。 Inoltre， è proprio nella parte centrale del romanzo che l'autrice ha la possibilità di approfondire il mondo ed il sistema magico ed è anche per questo che l'ho trovata comunque molto interessante， sebbene ci vengano rivelate pochissime informazioni alla volta。 Detto questo， ribadisco che， almeno per me， Siege and Storm rimane un buon sequel。 So che una delle critiche che viene fatta più spesso a questa trilogia è che c'è poca azione （cosa che confermo assolutamente）， per quanto mi riguarda però ho capito - proprio leggendo questi libri - che finché trovo la storia ed i personaggi interessanti， poco mi importa se c'è azione o meno。 Per me infatti， il più grande difetto di Shadow and Bone è che ci sarebbero dovuti essere più plot twist e che Leigh Bardugo avrebbe dovuto fornire qualche spiegazione in più su alcune cose （anche se non escludo che l'abbia fatto nel terzo ed ultimo volume della trilogia， Ruin and Rising）。Comunque， dopo aver finito di leggere il primo volume， mi ero creata certe aspettative e devo dire che in Siege and Storm， bene o male， sono state soddisfatte。 Per quanto riguarda il sistema magico， nel sequel di Shadow and Bone scopriamo cosa succede quando si superano i limiti imposti dalla magia， quali sono le gravi conseguenze; oltre a ciò， ci viene anche rivelato dove vivono e cosa fanno tutti quei Grisha che non fanno parte del Secondo Esercito。 Il worldbuilding invece è stato approfondito meno di quanto mi sarebbe piaciuto ma ho comunque apprezzato le poche cose che vengono svelate。 Come nel primo volume poi， anche in Siege and Storm， la religione - in particolare i Santi e le loro storie - e la fede rivestono un ruolo importantissimo， insieme al folkore， ai miti e alle storie che caratterizzano Ravka; nello specifico， nel romanzo ci viene mostrato fino a che punto una persona è disposta a spingersi quando c'è di mezzo la fede。 L'autrice ha inoltre continuato ad esplorare temi come il potere， l'avidità， la misericordia: se si è troppo potenti si finisce inevitabilmente per farsi consumare da quel potere o è possibile tenerlo sotto controllo？ Quando una nostra azione può essere considerata misericordiosa？ Insomma， credo che questa storia offra anche degli interessanti spunti di riflessione。 Altre cose invece non me le aspettavo proprio， in particolare sono rimasta piacevolmente sorpresa dal fatto che in Siege and Storm venga fatto qualche accenno alla vita di Alina prima di finire in orfanotrofio， dove i bambini venivano poi costretti a dimenticarsi dei loro genitori e del passato。 Ma soprattutto da tutto lo spazio che - giustamente - Leigh Bardugo ha voluto dedicare alla famiglia reale di Ravka e alla vita di corte; in Siege and Storm infatti viene introdotto il figlio minore del re e della regina di Ravka e conosciamo molto meglio sia lui che il fratello maggiore， apparso solo di sfuggita in Shadow and Bone。Sono rimasta piacevolmente sorpresa pure dai personaggi ed effettivamente， da questo punto di vista， c'è stato senza dubbio un leggero miglioramento rispetto al primo volume della trilogia。 A proposito di Alina， a me la protagonista di Shadow and Bone continua a piacermi， soprattutto perché lo trovo un personaggio molto realistico。 In Shadow and Bone， Alina， dopo aver scoperto di essere una Grisha， si era ritrovata in un mondo nuovo e conosciuto， che aveva dovuto imparare a conoscere e a capire; in Siege and Storm， Alina dovrà affrontare un'altra grande sfida: quella di destreggiarsi in un mondo ancora più complicato e spietato， quello della politica。 Inizialmente - com'è giusto che sia - Alina， non sapendo assolutamente nulla di politica e del （view spoiler）[mondo militare （hide spoiler）] troverà non poche difficoltà， non avendo idea di come comportarsi， di chi fidarsi， con chi allearsi， etc。 a mano a mano però， comincerà a prenderci la mano， grazie soprattutto all'aiuto di un nuovo personaggio。 Anche a quel punto però， Alina continuerà ad essere assalita dai dubbi e tormentata dalle sue paure， a compiere passi falsi e a fare scelte avventate， perché Alina rimane sempre e comunque una ragazza molto giovane e con pochissima esperienza。 In tutto ciò， a causa del potere conferitole （view spoiler）[dagli amplificatori （hide spoiler）]， comincerà ad emergere sempre di più il suo lato oscuro e la protagonista di Shadow and Bone dovrà fare i conti anche con questo。 Per quanto riguarda Mal， purtroppo non posso esprimermi in maniera altrettanto positiva; in realtà， visto come si era concluso il volume precedente， ero convinta che questo personaggio sarebbe potuto solo migliorare negli altri due libri della trilogia， ma ho dovuto presto ricredermi。 Personalmente， per me Mal in Siege and Storm ha fatto dieci passo indietro rispetto alla fine di Shadow and Bone e l'ho trovato a dir poco insopportabile: nella prima metà del romanzo non fa altro che essere inspiegabilmente geloso di Alina， nella seconda invece （view spoiler）[è meno presente， fortunatamente （hide spoiler）] ma （view spoiler）[ogni volta che appariva （hide spoiler）] trovava sempre il modo di irritarmi。 E certo， posso immaginare quanto dev'essere frustrante vivere una vita completamente diversa da quella che desideravi， in un ambiente abbastanza ostile dove tu e （view spoiler）[la persona che ami non potete nemmeno stare insieme liberamente （hide spoiler）]， ma tutto ciò non giustifica alcuni suoi atteggiamenti。 Detto questo， continuo a pensare che la sua abilità sia molto interessante e mi chiedo se Mal sia "semplicemente" bravo o se ci sia qualcosa sotto。。。Promossi a pieni voti invece tutti i nuovi personaggi introdotti in questo sequel; tra questo， il più importante è sicuramente Sturmhond， un corsaro in cui si imbatteranno per caso Alina e Mal e che nasconde un grande segreto。 Come sottolineerà più volte anche la stessa Alina， Sturmhond （almeno inizialmente） appare molto simile all'Oscuro: nel caso di entrambi， è difficilissimo capire ciò che pensano veramente e se quello che fanno lo fanno perché vogliono o perché hanno un secondo fine; Sturmhond infatti tende ad adattarsi al contesto in cui si trova e alle persone con cui ha a che fare， cambiando di conseguenza personalità e modi di fare。 Inoltre， in situazioni estreme， sia l'Oscuro sia Sturmhond sono disposti a compiere scelte ed azioni estreme。 Nel corso di Siege and Storm però， Alina - insieme ai lettori - si renderà conto che in realtà Sturmhond e l'Oscuro non potrebbero essere più diversi: mentre quest'ultimo， per aiutare Ravka e la sua gente， ha pensato che la soluzione migliore fosse estendere la Faglia d'Ombra， Sturmhond （view spoiler）[si impegna per aiutarli concretamente， fornendo， per esempio attrezzi più buoni ai contadini oppure equipaggiando meglio il Primo Esercito， riconoscendo allo stesso tempo l'utilità del Secondo （hide spoiler）]。 Oltre a ciò， è molto diverso anche il loro rapporto con Alina: l'Oscuro， in Shadow and Bone， l'ha praticamente sfruttata e vuole （view spoiler）[continuare a sfruttarla pure nel sequel （hide spoiler）] e mai una volta ha pensato di chiedere ad Alina la sua opinione; Sturmhond， d'altra parte， nonostante vorrebbe che Alina aiutasse Ravka， le fa più volte presente che la scelta finale spetta solo ed esclusivamente a lei。 Tutti gli altri personaggi secondari， li ho trovati nettamente superiori rispetto a quelli del primo volume， sia perché Leigh Bardugo gli ha dato delle backstory molto interessanti sia perché li ha sviluppati molto meglio。L'aspetto meno interessante di Siege and Storm è senza dubbio la storia d'amore tra Alina e Mal; ora， la loro storia - ovviamente - non funziona sia a causa di Mal （e della sua gelosia） sia a causa di Alina: quest'ultima infatti gli tiene nascoste parecchie cose e raramente si confida con lui perché ha paura di come Mal potrebbe reagire。 Ecco， il problema principale di questa coppia è sicuramente questo: la mancanza di comunicazione oppure il fatto che， quando uno dei due si decide finalmente a parlare con l'altro/a， l'altro/a si rifiuta di ascoltare。 Per quanto mi riguarda， Alina e Mal sarebbero dovuti rimanere amici e sono sicura che la loro amicizia - se gestita bene s'intende - mi sarebbe piaciuta molto di più。 Alina e （view spoiler）[Sturmhond （hide spoiler）] invece， in circostanze diverse， non mi sarebbero dispiaciuti， ma né per lui né per lei （view spoiler）[era il momento giusto per iniziare una nuova relazione （hide spoiler）] ed infatti sono contenta che， almeno in Siege and Storm， （view spoiler）[i due siano rimasti "amici" （hide spoiler）]。Come ho già sottolineato， il finale di Siege and Storm è stato pazzesco e se non avessi già voluto leggere al più presto il terzo ed ultimo volume della trilogia， mi avrebbe sicuramente convinto il colpo di scena con cui si conclude il libro！ 。。。more

This book was the second best one to me。 It really showed miss Alina with her badass side。 The whole speech when she became the general was AHHH I love this one。 Especially since Nikolai he really made this book 1000000x times better。Also white haired Alina。 That’s it。 That’s the tweet。
